View Full Version : Vehicle belt long enough for Frontier LBP?

I feel so ridiculous asking this, but here goes: does anyone know what the minimum length of seatbelt is for the LBP install of the Frontier?
One of the perks *insert sarcastic groan here* of living overseas is that I get to buy carseats sight-unseen for my children! I amused my husband immeasurably this morning by measuring the length of the shoulder/lap belt in the back of our SUV (a Toyota only sold in SE Asia, India, and South Africa). I have about 93" of belt to work with. My car's backseat is pretty much a bench - very little if any contouring.
I will be so, so impressed if anyone knows! Thanks!

How'd you measure it? Have him hold it out and then measure both lengths from the anchors to the latchplate? (That's the only way I can imagine doing it, so if it's not, enlighten me!). I can try... my Escape belt is just barely long enough, someone less persistent may well claim it's too short  (It was literally three inches shy of clicking in when I ran out of belt, and I just climbed on it and made it work, with much sweating and swearing :o).

Ugh... I hate to point this out, but keep in mind that you'll also have to factor in how much the vehicle seats compress. One person might say "Oh, I only needed 80" of seat belt for my car!" but if the seats are very cushy, it was because she was able to compress them enough to make it fit, yk?
Or if the seat is on rails and slides back and forth - that would change the amount needed as well.

:yeahthat:
Also, width of the seatbelt would factor in. As in, the spacing between the seatbelt anchor points. If they were perfectly lined up with the outside edges of the Frontier, that would be the minimum. But if they were wider than, or narrower than, it would change the length needed.
Also, whether or not you need to twist down the stalk would change it.

On the flipside, what cars out there has the FR NOT fit with the LBP?

I thought about the seat compression factor. I know this isn't a perfect science. I did measure from anchor to anchor, but then I also factored in that I have about an extra six inches that won't make a difference because the just run up from the anchor to the slider for the shoulder belt.
All day yesterday, I kept entertaining the idea of maybe buying a Nautilus instead. My DD didn't like the one she sat in at a friend's place this summer, but there are some very pink ones out now that may chance her mind. I probably will be able to stomach putting her in a dedicated HBB in a couple of years if she's truly being squished in the Nautilus ...
Argh.
Thanks for the advice, everyone!
