I think we've decided on an avenue for K in dh's car, but I'm wondering how hard it is to install. He drives a 2000 impala and the seatbelts do not lock when you pull them all the way out. The latchplates have a little things that flips over on the seatbelt (I think they are lightweight locking latchplates), but this doesn't seem very secure to me. Would I need a locking clip with this type of seatbelt, or can I use one even if it's not required?

Locking latchplates are great for installs because as long as the two piecs of seatbelt webbing are parallel to each other the seatbelt is locked.

I've installed my Uptown (same as Avenue) in a Dodge van with lightweight locking latchplates. It was SO easy. Took less than 3 minutes.
