Can someone give me a brief summary, or a link, about what the word is on RF'ing seats touching the front seats?

I was originally thinking that it was okay for them to touch, as long as the front seat wasn't pushing the RF'ing seat upwards, and that the RF'ing seat wasn't dependent on the front seat for support/angle/what have you.

Is it different for different models of car and car seat?

Thanks!

The rule is ... you have to read the manuals of both the child restraint and the vehicle. Some restraints allow touching, some allow bracing, some allow nothing, some require 1.5" of clearance. Some vehicles allow touching/bracing, others don't. You have to check both the section on child restraints, and on the air bags. A lot of vehicles warn against "cargo" touching the front seats, because it can mess with the airbag sensors. In that sense, the child restraint is "cargo."

It's actually a little simpler than it sounds. Only Evenflo prohibits touching the front seat, and only with their infant carriers.

Otherwise, go by your vehicle manual. If you do NOT have advanced airbags odds are it's fine, but check the owner's manual for your specific vehicle. It will likely be under the airbag section and not the car seat section.
