Hello, after a post the other night I found out that my dh has our 8 mo dd's new Marathon tethered in our 07 Odyssey wrong as he has it tethered to the seat itself. I was given this link below to look at which is a great link but the bottom of that Odyssey seat is completely different from mine so I'm guessing it's another year.

I'm really hoping someone can help me out. The pictures below are of the front seats in my Odyssey with and without the plastic casing removed at the bottom. I can't see any way to tether without removing the plastic. So I guess my question is this. Is it safe to tether on the horizontal bar that runs from one side of the seat to the other? It is welded at both edges and I don't really care if it looks bad or not without the casing I just want to do what is safe for my dd.

She will be rear facing, behind the drivers seat, in the captains chair.

Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated as I'm completely at a loss.

If the metal bar moves when you move the seat then no, you can't. Can you loop it around the track near where the bar is, though?

If you can't find an appropriate spot I'd tuck up the tether and put it back in the pouch. It's not required and I'd rather someone not use it than use it inappropriately.

Here's (http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=28456&highlight=odyssey) a post where I asked about that same spot. It was concluded that it was okay to go around the plastic too, as long as there was metal under it.

But, nobody brought up the question of whether it moves with the seat (as Wendy just mentioned). I'll have to check that on mine. Though right now it's in the middle spot and not even tethered (just haven't put it back yet). But would be good to know for the future.

Can you tether to the seat track, near where I circled in red? Can you take off the plastic that I sort of colored blue?

Your seat is the same seat as all of those pictures in the thread you linked ;)

You can leave the plastic on if you want, and just wrap around the plastic and that bar. Or, you can take the plastic off, and tether to the bar. It is ok to tether to a movable part, just as long as the driver doesn't their seat while the carseat is tethered to it. :)

I went out and checked everything over again and the metal bar does not move when the seat is moved so I'm guessing that's where I'll have to tether to. I would tether to the seat track but my dh drives the van sometimes and being taller than me he has to move the seat quite a bit.

Sorry about that lovinwaves. I, for some reason (probably lack of sleep - dd has rsv right now) was focused in on the close up pictures of the 3rd row seat driver's side outboard position.

Thanks for all the help.

If the seat moves up/back when you vs. DH are driving, it will change the slack in the RF tether. I don't recommend tethering to that spot unless you always leave the front seat in the same spot. The tether should have all the slack out of it, but should not be as tight as humanly possible (and possibly pulling the top of your carseat down when DH dirves). :twocents:

Try the male seatbelt stalk? Get ALL the slack out of the d-ring strap so that it doesn't slip off of that bolt. That's how I do it in my Ody currently.
