so i was taking measurements of the Volo, Triumph, and the quest and I noticed the the hood on the triumph/quest will move up closer the handles. Is this a feature on them? Or did the display have damage to it?

Also if you buy from ebay will they still honor the warranty?

Also which do you think would best serve the purpose: regular walks to park (up to 1 mi/way) going to amusement parks (maybe 2x/yr) for a 2+ yo (this helps both myself and sis) We are still undecided between vilo/triumph/quest. If this helps: currently dd sits (from bum to top of head) at 21"

sorry for all of the questions, just trying to make sure I'm going to be happy with the choice I make

I'm not really sure about the hood. I guess mine slides up, but I don't think it will stay there.

I believe there are a few authorized Maclaren retailers on ebay. Just watch for it in the listing and definately ask them if you're unsure.

Beware of the one that states they offer their 'own warranty so you don't have to go back to the manufacturer.' I bought one from that dealer and then wanted to buy a new buckle and asked him about it and he told me Maclaren wouldn't be able to help me. The serial numbers were removed from both the stroller and box, so that must have been why.

Here are the three different ones: volo/triumph/quest which looks like the best fit. And would it be worth the extra $40 between each model (say for features like recline etc..)

Volo:

Triumph:

I would probably either go for the Volo or the Quest. The Triumph has a more shallow seat, and doesn't recline as well as the Quest. It just depends if the recline is that important to you. I really like my Quest, but my daughter is much younger, so I can appreciate the recline a lot more. The Volo is more "no frills", but is super lightweight and the canopy is a little bigger.

But Ebay has some great deals on both the Volo and the Quest right now (and many with free shipping).

I opted not to pay the extra money and go for a Triumph and I really like it. My daughter is 11 months old so the recline has not been an issue. And honestly when were out and about sleeping is the LAST thing on her mind, so it doesnt really affect us. I do recline it when she has a bottle, and that works great.
We have taken it to the mall, the zoo, the airport ect. and it's been great. I think I would base my choice on the recline issue a lot on if you'll use it a lot or not.

Anyone use this person? I know there is another one but I do remember an issue another member had with them so I don't want to use them.

I agree, it would depend on whether you need the recline. I've found the Volo is much roomier for my older DD and I like that the hood is a little bigger. I find the basket easier to access on the Volo because the seat bottom sits up a smidge higher too.

If I was really going to need the recline, I'd go for the Quest over the Triumph, especially for a child 2 or older.

I didn't notice the forum this was in so I was totally expecting a computer question....and as such, I am no help. :D

it is not a feature... it is stores who don't place it correctly... it shouldn't be there and it shouldn't stay there when the seat is reclined, as the back of the canopy is supposed to go behind the kid's head.

i went to BRU and tested the macs... without child tho. here are my thoughts.

volo- really light, no frills, no recline. probably for an older kid

triumph- relatively light, reclines but not as far back as the quest.

quest- heavier, carrying handle on the side instead of a strap, reclines deeper.

they all push really nice (but without a child). i don't know... volo seems a bit flimsy to me. and i think they redid the foam handle... it doesn't feel as icky to me. the hood is bigger too. steers great, easy to fold. very nice... i'm impressed! i saw the chicco capri... not as nice and has lower weight limit. the ipo is just not as nice and heavier. there was another one that was way heavy.

when did they start making the bigger hood? i like that.

My 08 Quest has the carrying strap on the handles like the Volo:thumbsup:

And skip the Ipo, it does not push nearly as well as the Mac. It is more of a stiff feel. Also, the canopy pops off easily and is small and the recline is achieved with zippers, same with the Chicco(unless they've redesigned it recently). The seat really doesn't sit up very straight, so its always kind of reclined to begin with. I paid $90 for the Ipo, and while I don't really feel that the Quest is worth almost $200, I really felt the Ipo was a rip-off when you compare the two.

Yes, the Volo is perfect for older kids, my 5yo rides in it. Trust me, it feels very sturdy when a child is in it.

Since I paid $196 for my Quest, then found a Volo on Clearance for $50, I keep thinking the Quest isn't worth what it costs. Mainly because my 2yo NEVER sleeps in the stroller, and if I was going to be somewhere that I thought she needed the recline, I wouldn't take an umbrella stroller anyway. For what *I* need an umbrella stroller for, a Volo is fine.

If you are really going to use this stroller a lot and don't mind dropping $200 on it, go with the Quest. Its the perfect happy medium- more room than the triumph, has the recline the Volo doesn't. And it will have the best resale value of the three if you decide to sell it later:)

i was really tempted to buy a 2007 quest on ebay with 2 color choices (yes, they give u another set of seat and hood) for $140. but now i got an email from the right start store and babystyle... certain stores are having a storewide clearance. 20% off stroller and carseats and 30% off everything else. babystyle 20% off gear, 30% off apparel, shoes, books. 40% off redline stuff. i'm gg to go check them out.

I want to say the new hood was a new feature last year, but it might be as recent as the 2009 model.

I saw that one on ebay the other night and for that price, I'd probably go for it, too, regardless of warranty coverage. I'm sure a new seat set and hood would be at least $50.

Why oh why am I having such a hard time deciding :dizzy: The recline out of scale of 1-10 about a 5. For the most part the stroller would be for around the neighborhood. The zoo or similar type places maybe 2x/yr at the most, those are the places she'd more likely far asleep in the stroller. I do like the Ebay choice w/ extra cover/hood. I'm just nervous that there will be a problem and the main company won't do anything.
