View Full Version : I need a new stroller

DH broke the clip that holds the canopy as well as the one that locks it closed when folded on MY Euro-trend sport (if you aren't familiar with it think the Inglesina Swift). Then he spilled his coffee on it. This was my stroller, and my favorite. It was light and convenient and fit anywhere. Now I am left with the huge Bertini Bidwell sport HE wanted. It's heavy. It's great as long it it is not in the van.
It has been a long time since I have looked at strollers. So, what is nice out there that is similar to my old stroller? I need something umbrella like that a person 5'9" would be comfortable pushing and not kick the wheels. There seem to be a lot of brands I have never heard of on the market now. Will the less expensive ones fall apart? Are the Jeep ones any good? What about the Joovy 2 in 1, they looked nice? I would rather not shell out the money for a Maclaren (even though they are nice) since I won't be having anymore kids.
Ciara is 2.5 but still in love with her stroller. She broke down when she over heard I wanted to get rid of it.
Thank you in advance for you input!

If you don't need something that reclines and I am guessing you don't I would watch ebay for a Maclaren Volo. I got my first one off of there for $50. Even for $80-$100 it is far better than most of the umbrella strollers for an older child. The ones on ebay are usually new in box, just previous years models. I would also look on craigslist.
I had a chicco umbrella stroller for awhile, I think it was the capri? It is was okay, not wonderful but it did the job.

I would get a Peg Perego Pliko Lite. It is a lot like the P3 but without the child tray and adjustable handles - it is lighter as well. I love ours! Some of the features I like is the 3 position recline, parent cupholder, useable storage basket, compact fold, adjustable leg rest. I cannot speak highly enough of this stroller.
I know they quit selling them here in the US but you can still find new ones for sale online. They still sell them in Europe.
Here is a link to one of the stores that still sells them

I was considering this one when they were on clearance at Target but I wasn't fast enough. I think I still want something that reclines as she still falls asleep in hers on long walks.

There's a coral pink Maclaren Quest on Ebay for $105 with free shipping. It's a 2007 model, but new.

We have a Volo, and my ds (at 2.5) falls asleep in it frequently...the sitting still gets him. He leans to the side and goes to sleep. The seat reclines just enough that he doesn't have any trouble with head slump.

I remember that stroller... I thought it was light, too.... and it was back then... but they come lighter now.
for the same features and price, go for the Wendy Bellisimo BRU exclusive stroller... it's great for the price and not cheap at all (I've played)
OR.. you could buy my silver cross pop for 75 dollars shipped!

I was just at BRU and mino didn't have the Wendy Bellisimo that I saw. All I saw that fit that bill was the Maclarens, Graco Ipo and the Chicco Capri. The Ipo was okay, I don't like the handles on the Capri, it was just tall enough for me and probably too short for DH. It was the first time I have actually pushed a maclaren and I was very impressed on how light the Volo was.
The sales lady tried to push a Pliko3 on me.
Do you like your silver cross? I have only seen them online. Are they nice?
And if I can find the Wendy one, do you think it will hold up? I am starting to wonder if my Euro Trend was a fluke for lasting this long. I can't even find a one used!

I have a euro trend that I bought when DS was 6 months old. He is now 4.5 years old. It is still going strong but the foam grip are not a nice feeling and the graco metrolite I pushed for 9 months.

Ugh. And I found mixed reviews on Mia Moda.
My mind is spinning with the strollers. I never thought it would be this hard to find a replacement. I can find the same features but at three times the Euro Trends original price.
I think it is coming down to an Inglesina Swift or a Maclaren (Volo, Triumph or Quest).

I saw the Wendy Bellisimo clearance at the BRU near me a few weeks ago. It didn't look like they had any stock just the display.

Yeah, I realized how simple the foam grips were today when I pushed the Maclaren. But compared to the Bertini's nubbed rubber it is much nicer. I just fell in love in the simplicity of it I suppose :D

Thank you for your help and suggestions. After much debating I fianlly ordered a stroller, Maclaren Quest Mod in Turkish Blue (yes, I like bright :D ). I paid $160 I hope that was a good price (a bit more that the $60 I spent on the original stroller!)

I tried the Chicco C5 (didn't see a C6 and couldn't find measurements for it) and it was too short for my long legged DH. He kept kicking the wheels in the store.
