Hello,
Another thread caught my eye that suggested that newer version Radians would be RF to 35 lbs. Is this true? Are they already out with this rating in Canada? What are my options to buy? I know that TJ's (local, or online) have the Premier Monaco on sale for 199 but it doesn't say 35 lbs, although it says it's the newest model...
Thanks for any help you can offer! I'm needing to buy a Radian soon as my dd5's Cargo just expired, but the extended RF would be even more helpful for my future LO's!

I can't tell from looking at the website. The manual says 30 pounds, but the little badge on the web page with Specifications says 15kgs. :shrug-shoulders:

When the XT arrives in Canada it will have a 35lb rf'ing limit. I'm not sure if the regular Radian is having it's limit changed or not - I would expect so, but I couldn't predict when. I know that the seats currently being shipped will still have the labeled 32" limit on them but they are currently reviewing that so hopefully we'll see a change in that regard in the near future as well.

There's a retailer here in the city who is expecting the first shipment of XT's in March. I know her order is placed already and that's the time frame she's been given. Since they're out in the US now, I'd expect that the CDN ones will hit shelves in the expected time frame unless there's something unexpected at the last minute.

Awesome, thanks! I think I'm just going to go with the current version...since we're buying it as a centre seat lapbelt solution, I see less need for the addition side impact protection. In our situation I would think it'd be more important to get it sooner so that the seats fit better, and it is much less costly. Does the original version have the EPS foam at all?

Yes, the original version is lined with EPS foam anywhere babies head could potentially contact.

Any idea what the shipping charges are for TJ's?
I have been dragging my feet about getting a seat for my newborn (my due date is tomorrow!)...as per the advice I received here earlier I was going to get a True Fit. I missed the sale at Zellers and then missed the free shipping from ToysRUs. Then I read the reviews on ToysRUs and started to worry that adjusting the harness is going to be too difficult in my truck (rear-facing). So now I am looking at the Radian. I don't think I can wait until March so it seems like the best/cheapest place to buy it from is TJ's? I live in a remote rural location so online is my only option.
Thanks!

Shipping charges at TJ's are pretty expensive, and they're generally not too nice a company to do business with.. You may have a different experience though, never know.
The XT's aren't in Canada yet so far as I know, so if you're planning to purchase a Radian online, I'd probably do it from a site with free shipping like tummiestotots.com or safetysuperstore.com
Just so you know, the True Fit is going on sale at TRU starting Friday. It's difficult to access the adjuster in some vehicles, but certainly not all. The thing about reviews is a review is only as good as the reviewer and every vehicle/child/parent combination is unique. :o (And the adjuster generally isn't hard to access with the seat at a 45* angle.) You could always start a thread with the make/model of your truck and ask if anyone has tried the TF in there, then you'll have an idea whether or not it's an option.

Thanks for the advice. I think it is time for me to just order one! (I'll go with the one on sale at TRU). This baby is going to come anytime!

A couple of weeks ago I bought what I THINK is the new version of the Radian 65 (it has the larger, light gray chest clip and the rubber on the bottom - DOM is 11-29-08). It still has the 30lb RF limit on the sticker on the side (I didn't check the manual to make sure it was the same). Perhaps it is only the XT (or maybe also the premier) which will go up to 35lb RF.
Also, I bought mine in person from the Safety Superstore (which is the same place as http://www.babyproofingplus.com/). Although their price was $269, they matched Dear-Born Baby's online price of which, on that day, was $239.99. Unfortunately, I see that Dear-Born's price has not also gone up to $269, but if you can find a better price on-line, call Babyproofing plus and they may match it. Also, Babyproofing Plus had just received a new shipment of the granite Radian 65s, so I think if you order from them you will get a newer seat (at least if you are looking for at Granite RN 65). The seats I looked at in person at Dear-Born had a 2007 DOM.

I had called Li'l Niblets last week looking to see which SK car seats they carry and they told me they had the Radian XT for $329.
