I was in an accident with my three children on Friday (could have been far worse, no one was injured, we're just waiting to hear if our van is safe enough to drive home or if we have to get a rental). Of course the carseats will all need to be replaced now and I'm frantically researching as we will likely be purchasing them very soon.
Child #1 - 6.5yo, ~ 43" tall and 43lbs. Currently harnessed in an Apex. We haven't had any problems particularly with the seat except that we hate the harness adjustment (pull-out thread in front in the middle). We find it almost impossible to tighten without standing on the carseat and having someone else pull on it. Makes it very inconvenient to adjust.
Child #2 - 3.5yo, ~ 32lbs and average height (sorry, don't know exactly right now). Currently in an Evenflo Generations - we love this seat, mostly because of the side adjustment knobs - SO easy to adjust for whatever she's wearing.
Child #3 - 20months, 28lbs and about 31.5". She's currently in an older Evenflo Titan. We like the seat except, again, for the darn centre adjusting strap which is almost impossible to tighten.
I'm just waiting to get confirmation back from my insurance agent that the seats will, indeed, be paid for, but everything I've read indicates that insurance will pay for seats in an accident.
I'm just looking for recommendations of what seats I should be looking at - I don't know if we'll have a $$$ limit, so maybe something mid-range rather than Britax all across, lol. ;) We are in Canada. I've just started looking and I'm thinking Evenflo Triumph (if it's the Advance version, it doesn't say on the Sears website) for the youngest; maybe a Radian for the oldest; and I'm not sure for the middle one (maybe a Generations again?). Oh, and it's a 2001 Dodge Caravan the seats will be going into - one in the back and two in the middle bench seat.
Thank you!
