I was just wondering what it entails. I tried doing a little research online tonight and realized I could just as easily tap your brains for a bit of knowledge.
thank you!!

Thanks, I was on this site last night but for whatever reason couldn't figure out where the search is to find classes in my area... Am I blind? What's it labeled under?

It's the middle blue button on the right.
but here's the direct link- https://ssl13.cyzap.net/dzapps/dbzap.bin/apps/assess/webmembers/tool?pToolCode=TAB9&pCategory1=TAB9_COURSESEARCH&Webid=safekidscertSQL&pSearch=yes
Make sure you click the box for controlled courses.
and here's a bit more information on registering - http://car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=35900

Thank you!!
I'm a goob. I thought I had to have a course number to do that search.
Is it worth it to get certified? How do you use your certification?
Frankly I'm just intrigued by it...

I too am intrigued by this and would like to know how you all use your certs?
Also I am very shocked by how few classes there are and the fact that many states do not offer courses.

There isn't always a long lead-time for classes - so just because there isn't one today, doesn't mean there isn't one planned soon.
For example, my safe kids chapter schedules none in the winter. But - I was recently on there, and one popped up for March.
I'd call your local safe kids and inquire.
I have emailed that there is interest in having a class in Salem. We will see what they say!

I am also interested in becoming a CPS Tech. I looked at the same site, and the nearest class is in Reno, NV. I live in Carson City, NV. I just wish they would have something in Carson, but I will glady drive to Reno everyday to get certified. I will keep looking before I sign up and pay the $60 to enter the class. If nothing shows up in Carson, I will just have to go to Reno.

I waited three years for my class, sometimes you have to just hope one comes close to you. I still drove 40 minutes each way to get to mine.

They tend to have a lot more that are a ways away from me than right near me. I've pretty much decided when one comes up at a time when my husband could take off to watch the kids, we'll just go on out and take a vacation to wherever they're having the class. ;)

I have a qeustion, once you get certified where would you go to help people out to install car seats or check the car seats? Would they come to you or meet them somewhere?
Hook up with your local Safe Kids. You need to work with other techs for awhile before ever thinking about doing it alone.

The instructor here said that she is planning another one for May in the Portland area... Maybe we could get her to do it in Salem??
Is there anything I can do to help Judi?? Like I said the other night, I've already emailed her and mentioned Salem.
Once you're certified there's other classes to take and further your knowledge? Did I understand that correctly?
Besides Sandy Holt is there anyone else I can take this class from in Oregon?
I emailed, waiting for an answer now. There are other instructors. I think Scatterbunny should go for the instructor candidacy!
