We live in the US. DS is 4 and currently riding harnessed in a Nautilus. We have family in Winnipeg that we visit every summer. We can all fit in one vehicle if we take their van, so we frequently end up doing so for many reasons. We have always just moved DS's seat from our vehicle to their van. Was this okay last summer before the Nautilus came to Canada and will this be okay when we head back North this coming summer? It really makes a lot of sense for us to all ride together when we are there, but I would hate for any of us to run into trouble using a US seat for a US child in a Canadian vehicle with a Canadian driver.

Thanks in advance. I thought of this when reading the thread about stops to check seats -- we've seen checkpoints for something set up in the past on the way to the family cottage in Winnipeg Beach during the July holiday.

I'm not 100% sure but I'm pretty confident in saying you would be fine. From what I have been told (on here) so long as you do not live in Canada and are just visiting, it is fine to use an American seat. I would think riding in their car (registered in canada) would be similar to renting a car here (also registered in canada), KWIM?

As long as you are visiting and he is a US citizen, he can use his US seat. :)

As long as his American parent is with him, I don't see a cop giving a ticket. If he was in the vehicle with only Canadians, I know if I was the cop, I would think they were trying to pull the wool over my eyes, and ticket them anyway.

I'm glad to hear that we are likely okay. Thanks for the input.
