Recommended from another site to come over here and double check my car seat installation.

It's a Alpha Omega Elite, in a 04 Nissan Sentra. It is installed using LATCH. My daughter is 8 mths, 19 lbs.

Is the recline at an appropriate level?

Here's a link to pictures:

Please let me know if you need anymore info! Thanks

The recline appears to be quite upright to me, but within acceptable levels. I hope someone with a protracter can comfirm.

However, I am a little concerned about the installation itself. Usually you will find with an appropriately tight install, the seat appears to be indenting the upholstery of the vehicle. I get the feeling from the picture that the seat is not anywhere near tight enough.

When you hold the seat at the belt path (down where the feet would be), hold it firm and try to move it side to side and back and forth. You should have less than 1" of movement in any direction.

You may find it easier to get the correct installation (and give the front passenger a bit more room), by taking off the base of your seat and using a pool noodle or rolled towel to get your recline.

Please post back and let us know how it goes!

:thumbsup:I have an AOE and IME it's pretty much impossible to get it installed tightly rfing with enough recline for a baby without using a pool noodle or three. It's also a lot easier to install it rfing, w/latch especially, without the base as it kind of gets in the way of the latch anchors.

Also, there's a place on the folding recline foot that you use with the base off to hook up the tether when it's not being used. Alternately you can roll it up and secure it with a rubber band. It could fly around and hurt someone if left hanging like that.

HTH!

That helps a ton!

We have not actually used the car seat with our daughter in it yet - Wanted to make sure that we have it in properly before we do that!

Thanks for the heads up on taking the base off - That would make it WAY easier to install.

(pics taken right after installation - haven't used it and all the attachments will be appropriately tightened..)

Will post more pictures tonight after we play with it a bit more!

Here's the installation pictures with out the base.
From what I can see -
Good points: better recline, LATCH installed

Top tether needs to be restrained/hooked - No baby has riden yet!

Does it look like the LATCH attachment should be tighter? The seat doesn't move more than 1" in any direction right now.

What do you think?

The angle looks perfect, the only thing I'm not completely sure of is if the towel is pressing down on top of the lower anchor belt. I wouldn't want the towel to be on top of the belt, rather the belt running near the end of the towel or over top of it. It's possible it's just the way I'm looking at the picture though...

But from angle perspective it's perfect. The LATCH belt is going through the rf'ing beltpath and the towel is being used properly. It sounds like you're fine in terms of movement as well. So just double check that the towel isn't interfering with the tightness or placement of the LATCH belt at all and it looks pretty good. :)
