I need to replace the second row, passenger side seatbelt on my '97 T & C.
Is it safe to buy a new (but not made by Chrysler) seatbelt and have my Dad and hubby install it OR is it a must that I have Chrysler do this for me? I can get a brand new generic seatbelt for about $80. I'm assuming having the dealership do it is considerably more. I know people pull them out of vehicles in junkyards, but I'm not really comfy doing that.
Tell me what you know, please!

Honestly I'd suggest going to the dealer for something like that.

:yeahthat:
For something that integral to safety (and you can't get much more integral than that without going to math class [sorry I know but I've been reading Xanth again]) I wouldn't want to take a risk.

Hmmm...well, that's just not going to happen. Period. $80 is stretching it for us. So, it it's going to be several hundred at the dealer, I'm going to have to figure out how to install the generic belt. That's an absurd price!!!! I understand the time involved to install, b/c you have to remove the side panel of the van, but $300 just for the belt is ridiculous! Someone is making a profit of over $250 on that seatbelt! (Obviously, I'll call our dealership here to ask for a quote...but sheesh)
UGH. Darn dog!
