We just installed a SK Monterery booster in our 2000 Honda Civic. We've always had our Britax Wizard in the center position, but I've heard that the center position is not good for the Monterey (seat techs on the Car Chat board advised that the bump in the center prevented a secure latch).

So - is there any information or evidence on which side of a vehicle is statistically safer?

Thanks very much!

Statistically, there's no difference. It's a convenience thing, whichever side you prefer.
For example, my son sits in the passenger outboard position in his Monterey beacuse it makes school drop off easier.

Statistically in a crash? No difference.

I advise parents to think of how they use their car in terms of loading and unloading children. Do you park on the street often? If so it is probably safer to have child on the passenger side so he get in and out of the car away from the street. If street parking is rare, it might be more convenient for both of you to have him behind the driver.

I appreciate your information and feedback -- passenger outboard makes the best sense for us.

Thanks again,
