I hope I am posting this in the right forum. Yesterday DS was playing with the bathroom scale so I showed him how it works. I was shocked (checked twice) that it said he was just under 33lbs . Last he was at the Dr. was probably sep/oct and he was just under 30lbs... I don't think he has gained anything... not 100% sure though. I am pretty sure my scale at home is a little higher than the drs etc but even so what weight should I use? He is in a TF rfing and I would like to keep him that way to the limit. Also, do you weigh them fully clothed with shoes etc?

Most bathroom scales (unless it's a higher priced digital scale) won't read proper weights until 50lbs or more.

The best way to weigh kids at home, is to weigh yourself and then weigh yourself holding kiddo... subtract the two numbers to get kiddo's accurate weight.

I weigh fully clothed (minus jacket/shoes). A jacket and shoes are just not going to add that much weight to really matter... maybe a pound?

I checked again weighing me (always a super fun experience :o) and then holding him.... 34lbs  I think I need to take him somewhere with a more reliable scale. I know I am usually 10ish lbs heavier on my home scale.

Doctor's offices might let you borrow their scale. The other thing I have heard of is go to the post office and ask to use the scale there ... Their scales are used for trade, so HAVE to be accurate.

Another thing regarding the post office is that most have the "automated postal" so you could weigh ds w/out asking the clerk.

We've got it much easier in Canada... just go to the local health clinic (where you get immunizations). The scales are out in the waiting room and anyone can use them... that will be accurate. :)

Our pet store has a veterinarian on site, and the scale is right in the front of the store, that's a good place to weigh a kiddo, too :D
