I am a rookie with all the lingo, but basically the buckles are really long and I can on do FF installation in order to keep the buckle from touching the carseat and being in the belt path. does that make sense? I am frustrated my daughter is 2 and 23 lbs so I want her RF but I can't let it touch right?

It's ok for the buckle to touch the belt path, as long as it doesn't interfere with a solid install. If the buckle position is causing the seat to be a little looser than you'd like, you can twist the stalk up to 3 full turns to "shorten" it and get the buckle out of the way.

Twisting that buckle stalk should get it away from the belt path for rearfacing (and forward facing). I've had long buckle stalks in several of my vehicles (mine and family) and installed my friend's MA, our Decathlon, and our FPSVD. It worked fine to twist the buckle stalk. 3 full turns is allowable.
