Transport Canada's recall notice section of their website still seems to be down...? Or moved? Here's the EFTA recall we've been expecting... Keep in mind this is a stickering problem and not a performance-related issue.

Issue:

Evenflo Company, Inc. and Transport Canada wish to inform the public of an error on both the English language label (numbered 25802355) and the French language label (numbered 25802349) where there is a warning stating that the restraint cannot be used on aircraft. The label number is printed on the lower right hand corner. This warning statement on these labels is not correct and conflicts with the information provided in the instruction manual.

Page 7 of the English language manual and page 7 of the French language manual both state correctly that the subject Triumph Advance models can be used on aircraft.

The labels, in both official languages, have been corrected in all subsequent units manufactured. The manufacturer will provide replacement stick-on labels upon request.

Evenflo Company, Inc. and Transport Canada wish to inform all parents and caregivers of the error so as to eliminate any possibility of confusion and possible inconvenience.

Consumer Recourse:

Consumers may call the Evenflo Company, Inc. helpline at 1-937-773-3971 to request correct replacement labels.

Allport - EFTA coming from Evenflo are still being labeled with the not approved for use on aircraft sticker. We have a Nov 11/08 DOM at work which still has the not approved wording, and the earlier dates have it as well.

I just talked to Evenflo and they're sending me out a replacement English label. Apparently the French isn't available for sending out yet. The rep I talked to did have to talk to her supervisor as she wasn't aware of the recall yet, but the supervisor was so it's all good.

Finally. This recall took awefully long to come about.

Sometimes these things take a long time depending on the company. I'll get hold of them again about the November DOM with the incorrect labels.

I didn't mean to infer that TC was dragging its heels. I fully suspected Evenflo's behavior. ;)

Ditto. We knew how fast TC worked on the Frontier recall. So my comment was not a reflection of TC but more of Evenflo.

It was March 2008 when we discovered this problem, just as we were installing our brand new car seat and heading off to the airport in the US. Unfortunately Evenflo was not very helpful, except to tell us that besides the labelling the seat was identical to the US model so was safe to be used on an airplane. It would be hard to convince a FA that an official sticker "not approved" sticker is wrong.
It is unfortunate that Evenflo doesn't just send labels to all registered owners. Someone may get caught flying unaware and be denied use on the plane.
Tried to call, however they are closed till Dec 29.
I was grateful to find this site as a result of that incident. Thank you for following through on the issue and getting something done!
Thanks again!:)
