I just recieved my True Fit seat and will be using it rear facing for my 19 month old twins. Does the seat have to be installed in the recline mode for older children rearfacing or infants only. It doesn't specify in the manual so I thought a couple of techs on this site might know.

I will try to install myself as it seems pretty easy with LATCH. But have an appt at the firestation on Jan 7th for either install or inspect.

Thanks.:o

The black foot has to be flipped towards the front of the seat when installed rf'ing. If you look on the bottom of it, it will say whether it's in the rf'ing or ff'ing position, and the manual itself specifies in the instructions to flip the foot to the rf'ing position. (Not sure on the exact wording.)

At any rate, it can be installed more upright - just put more pressure on the front of the seat where the feet would rest when tightening up the seatbelt or LATCH belt, or use a smaller rolled towel depending on your vehicle, but the black foot needs to be flipped forward when the seat is installed rf'ing.

Trudy's right. OP, do you have text on page 42 of your manual that says to "Always adjust the recline foot to the recline position when rear facing."?

Thanks to all. It's on page 42 of my manual.

Yes, page 42 is right. I have no idea why I typed 19 when I was looking right at the page. Up too late I guess! :o

Even with the recline foot in the correct position, mine installs too upright for my 16 month old without a rolled towel or pool noodle. The First Years says it can be no more upright than 35*. Mine installs at 30 or so without a noodle.
