I helped BIL install the SafeSeat for their baby coming in Jan. They wanted it in the centre of the backseat so I had to use the belt. The odd thing was the belt for the centre comes down from the driver's side...... couldn't really find anything in the manual about this but I just wanted to make sure that it is ok to install a seat with the belt coming down from there. I have only seen it coming from the passanger side. Hope that makes sense. TIA!

uh yeah, that's fine. It doesn't matter which side it comes from as long as you are using the appropriate seatbelt and buckle for that position.

Thanks a lot... I just wanted to check, I thought they normally came from the other side. The weird thing was when looking at the pictures in the manual they showed it both ways... weird! This leads me to a second question.... how can you tell for certain you are using the correct buckle? His have straps way back in the seat bite and it is really hard to tell which is what. I just tried to see which was closer to centre.... Is there a better way to tell? Thanks again!

This is just based on my observations-
If it matters which one you use, then the one for the center one will likely be labeled. I've found that if they aren't interchangeable, then the female end of the buckle will generally say center on it (either on the casing or the release button). If they aren't labeled, then I make an educated guess but don't sweat it too much. In my car, the center latchplate won't work with the outboard buckle and the casing for the center buckle is labeled.

Thanks. I will let him know just to double check that, I couldn't see that well (dusk) but doesn't mean it wasn't there.
