Hi,

We have a diplomat installed front facing in our 2001 MDX. We are having a problem with the shoulder straps. The straps seem to be getting stuck. Many times when we press the release button to loosen the straps, the straps are only able to be pulled forward an inch or two, as opposed to other times we are able to move the straps forward 6-8 inches. Poking our hands behind the seat, it is difficult to tell what the problem is. We just turned our son around, but we didn't really have this problem when he was rear facing. Does anyone have any thoughts as to what is going on?

Thanks.

There is a black plate on the back of the seat that is supposed to keep the straps from getting smashed into the back of the seat. However, if you pull the straps out all the way, the splitter plate could get hung up on the back. I would uninstall the seat and make sure the black plate is fastened at all four corners and not hanging up the straps.

May I also ask how old your son is and his weight and height? :o

I second the PP, I bet your splitter plate is getting hung up on something in the back of the seat.
