I am using my Evenflo Symphony rear-facing, but the latches came in the forward-facing postion. Could anyone describe to me how to move the latch belt system to the rear-facing postion? I can't seem to do it without the straps being twisted where the "X" is. Any help would be appreciated!! Thank you!

I was just plain mistaken. I was going by the video on evenflo's site, which made it look like it would be as easy as I originally said.

Clearly, I should have known they wouldn't be as informative as they should be.

you shouldn't need to switch the connectors.

all you would need to do is lift the cover and take the connectors from the forward facing beltpath and move them to the rearfacing path.

No, if you do that the LATCH connectors are upside-down.

OP, try pulling up the cover so you can see what you're doing. The LATCH strap should be attached to the carseat by a nylon strap. You should be able to pull in the connectors, flip the whole mess around, and then thread the connectors through the RF belt path in the right direction. The only twist you should wind up with is the one in the nylon strap (and sometimes not even that).

The LATCH connectors on the Symphony are the alligator style clips like on Britax seats, so she WILL need to flip them. (And I find that I have to flip the strap on my Scenera to get the hooks to attach properly.)

It will probably help if you take the cover off the seating area of the seat.

Pull the connector strap out until you can see both connectors. There is a little strap that connects the strap to the seat.

Once you can see the whole strap flip which side the connectors are on. Don't worry if the little strap gets twisted.

Then put the strap through the rear facing belt path. I'm not sure if the strap needs to go in front or behind the crotch strap. Consult your directions that came with the seat. The LATCH hooks should have the larger part of the hook on the top when they are connected.

Then replace the cover... you should be good to go!

Thank you! The directions don't even mention how to do it and like you said the video isn't helpful either. I think I was doing what you all are saying to do. I was just worried about that little strap being twisted. You know how they always say that carseat straps should not be twisted. But these are not functional as far as holding the car seat into place, so I guess it should be okay. Thanks again for the quick replies.

I was going to take video, but I can't find my camera.

You were NOT mistaken, Debbie and Susan are!

The LATCH connectors on the Symphony are NOT like those on a Britax or Cosco seat. To flip them you simply: Remove the infant padding.
Open the velcro in the seat area, exposing the LATCH strap.
See how it says "Forward facing" on the white tag? We're going to change that.
Take the RIGHT LATCH connector out of the FF belt path, and thread it into the RIGHT side of the RF belt path.
Take the LEFT LATCH connector out of the FF belt path, and thread it into the LEFT side of the RF belt path.
See how that tag now says, "Rear facing?" That's what you're going for.

Yes, there's an X in one of the straps. That X is sewn in place. You cannot "untwist" it. It's there to keep the LATCH strap centered side-to-side.

DO NOT MOVE THE RIGHT CONNECTOR TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE SEAT. The connectors will not be upside down, because they flip end over end when you switch them. If it doesn't look right, place your hand on the white tag which says, "Forward facing," or "Rear facing," and follow the strap all the way down to the connector to remove any twists.

You were NOT mistaken, Debbie and Susan are!

This would explain why Gypsy and I had such a hard time with the one we played with at BRU! :D

YAY!!! I was so sure from the video... and I thought I remembered seeing something to that effect at the store.

I just didn't look well enough to know what you just listed as the steps.

Thank you for your detailed post.

I'm just glad we have confirmed steps for it to know for sure what to do.

Can someone please clarify for me the following on this.

First does the bottom seat belt go through the middle of the X or in front of it?

Second when I flip the latch connectors around it folds the belt over on top where it is connected to the seat. Is this correct.

Thank you!!
