I can not seem to get the Evenflo Chase to install tightly in our Chysler Sebring 2001 with leather seats.

I have used the locking clip and have turned the buckle stalk and nothing keeps the seat from sliding. The seat will have a tight install for about 1 hour then slowly loosens. The car does not have latch. The child seat stays tight on top but slides forward several inche. Not really sure how to describe except to say it does not stay up against the back of the seat(built in seat)

I think the problem is the seat as they are leather and at a down ward angle. I do not have install problems in other cars with this seat. Also I have a Safety 1st Seat (AIO) and it doe the same thing.

Hi! You do not need a locking clip with your car. All cars after 1996 lock automatically, either at the shoulder belt or at the buckle. I'm not sure which kind of lock your car has but I am sure someone else will be along to say.

When you are installing your seat, try getting your knee in it and pushing as hard into the bite of the vehicle seat as you can while you snug the belt. Instead of pulling on the shoulder belt to tighten in, pull the slack of the belt through the belt path to the side with the buckle, then pull straight up while kneeling on the seat, that should take all the slack out of the lap belt.

I'm not sure about the Sebring specifically, but many Chryslers have locking latchplates. To see if yours does, sit in the vehicle seat (where you're installing the seat), buckle the seatbelt over you, and pull UP on the lap portion. If it doesn't move, you have locking latchplates.

Sometimes the angle of the car seat makes the latchplate not engage properly, or loosen over time. Try flipping the latchplate (the "male" part of the seatbelt that goes into the buckle) so it's upside down. That should keep the seatbelt locked.
