I watched 2 baby tv shows the other day and I shouldn't have. The first one was called something like "Help I am going to be a father soon." They make the guy spend 2 nights/days with 2 kids who are borrowed from friends. He has to do some things like unpakc all the baby gear, set up the pack n play, give them baths, take them on a car ride.....
I do not think they should have given him 2 kids (one car seat) and just said figure it out. They could have at least showed him how to properly install them. The one kid was 8 months and did not have good body control. The other was 8 yr old. He puts the 8mo in the [only] forward facing seat. The 8 yo gets nothing. Which here the law is 9 mo old ffing and til 12 must be in a booster/something.
Second show is about families with newborns. The familywas on their 7th kid. They said the last 4 had used the infant carrier and was time to get a new one. I thought "Good, these people seem smart, the seat is expired, they need to get a new one." Then later I realzed "No I think they had one of the "old" seats" ECE03 or whatever they were that changed last year.
Still curious as to their choice, I kept watching. The salesperson asked what they were looking for. She said the most important thing to her is that her baby stays warm. They find a giant foot bag. Then look for a matching car seat. They show how nicely the maxi cosi matches with their foot bag and decide for that one. I was so upset.
I just remembered a 3rd vent. At a baby store the other day a customer asked the salesperson about a "weird looking seat" (it was a polaric rfing seat) The salesperson said the customer wouldn't want one of those bulky seats, but instead a ffing maxi cosi.
