It seems like a really good deal and it has good reviews but I've never seen one IRL and I'm not really sure what it means by gliding? We went to bru last night and they didn't have anything that remotely resembles this:( I really like the plug in option but I'm not willing to pony up $100+ since Peyton hated his swing with a passion.

My sister has that swing. :)

The "glide" option is a gentle front-to-back motion. My DN liked that when he was teeny-tiny. :)

I think my sister used this swing in her bedroom and a bigger swing downstairs.

Oh, yeah, we carried that at Baby Depot last year. I have very few returns. I thought it was a great idea.

Is it just a plug in swing you want, or that particular one?
There are a few others that plug in too.
The Fisher Price: Rainforest cradle swing, Starlight papasan cradle swing, butterfly garden cradle swing, and a few different patterns in the power plus swing.

I'm getting the starlight papasan cradle swing (It's cheapest at walmart.com with free site to store shipping) because it has the side to side or back to front motion, so baby is bound to like one of them.

This is very useful! When I put DS in his swing for the first time I turned it on the lowest setting and turned my back to do some dishes. To my horror when I looked back at him he was swinging violently practically from ceiling to ceiling. Even though he was very tiny he had a look of horror on his face I will never forget. It took a LONG while before he was big enough for it to be a normal swinging motion and by then he was kind of past the age to want a swing.

Hmm glad I was just reminded of that, maybe I'll put up that thing on CL.

fisher price swings are very gentle... in fact, when you turn them on with no weight in them, they typically won't move... which is why I tell moms going swing shopping for the first time to bring a 2-liter bottle of water/soda/etc. to test them out.

I LOVE this swing, though I've only tested it out and played with it.

the seat doesnt' vibrate like the infant/toddler rocker normally does, but that isn't a big deal for me (if I really want vibration, a couple cheap electric toothbrushes or a massager in a rolled blanket placed in the seat next to baby can do that... plus, the rocking is a greater soother than vibration for some babies)

I also really love it for when baby is snoozing in the swing and you want to snag a shower... I have cats... I don't like leaving baby alone in a room with them for the first 3 months unless using a crib tent (so in the crib) to allow the cats to adjust and for me to know they won't go on the baby's things.... anyway... you can grab the seat (though not easily, it's doable) and carry baby in it into the bathroom with you.
