Our youngest just turned 6 the end of the summer. He weighs about 58lbs, tosro height 19". What would you all have him riding in if he were your son? I was thinking Monterey, but maybe waiting for the new clek is better.....HE is too big for the harnessed frontier, right? Not having him in a harnessed seat for the winter doesn't seem right to me!

I love our Montereys. Very nice seat. My almost 5yo son has one that he sits in occassionally (harnessed Frontier most of the time) and I feel very safe with him in that seat. My 7yo just fits the Frontier (but doesn't have one because she's 7 and just outgrew her Radian), and she has tons of room in her Monterey and she really loves it.

What's he in right now? Do you have time to wait for the Clek? If you have time to wait, I probably would... just to compare the two. If not, I'd be totally happy with a Monterey. :)
A is shown in the Frontier here (http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=55415). He had a 16.25" torso at the time and about 1.5" left of growing room... so I doubt your son would fit in the Frontier in harness mode.
A is 6.5 and rides in the Parkway full time now (he's 40lbs on the nose). I'm totally comfortable with him in it. He sits perfect, knows to move his coat out of the way of the belt path, and when he falls asleep he's got perfect head support.

He's in the parkway. We had a bad drive today, set off from our house in clear sunny skies to Toronto, but had to turn back less than an hour in due to nil visability, blowing snow and awful roads. I can't count how many times I had to turn around and remind him to sit right.....he was leaning all over (trying to watch the DVD I had in to keep them quiet so DH could concentrate), then slouching, trying to prop his feet on the edge of his seat, on the headrest of DH seat etc.....
This was only less than an hour of driving. We drive a fair bit, longish trips. This is not going to be acceptable in the winter!
I'm not sure if a different booster would be better for him, or if have to start re-trying the harnessed seats. He is a high activity kid, really impulsive and fidgety, I just don't know if he has the self control or even the ability to sit well for a longer trip.....:(

My 5 year old is in the Monterey... Honestly, we used to lock the seatbelt on him to ensure he didn't move about, just to train him in that initial stage. We still only use the Monterey part-time, but I would say we've gone from using a booster (Parkway previously) 1/10 trips to 50% of the time now. He doesn't tend to move out of place in the Monterey at all. Whereas we used to only use the booster for trips within town here (50-60km/hr) to using it on the highway (70mph) without a second thought.
The DVD player used to be an issue with the Parkway...and it's no longer a problem, although we did switch to him watching movies on his iPod Touch for a while to ensure he stayed in place. We rarely use the DVD player so I can't say for sure if it has been the new seat or just Aiden's maturation over time that he sits in place while watching.
I really do like the Parkway for that 8-10 stage--it's what I used for both of my older boys.. but for 5/6 there are some better options out there now. Especially with active little boys--you really need to make them feel that much more contained. With the Monterey I'm actually pretty comfortable having Aiden in a booster most of the time. I will probably still switch it out for long trips or trips where he's likely to fall asleep, though.
BTW--I'm not super fond of SK or SK products..go figure.
Here's my little girl in the Monterey (Don't do this while vehicle is moving):

Well, it's worth a try anyway....I don't love the look of it in pics, but in that photo you linked its not so huge and overbearing looking as it is empty. Anway, if he is going to sit better in it, that's all that matters! Our second boosters are set to expire anyway, so the parkway will make a great around town booster for DH truck (me trying to justify purchase of another new booster:o)

That picture is of a 3 year old in it, though.. :) And it adjusts in multiple directions.. I think a head-on photo of a child in it would be best--or just to try it out. It works for us, but every kid is different.
