Can you purchase GAP insurance anywhere besides a car dealership?

(asking for someone else...I'm not a fan of being that upside down in a car loan)

Doesn't your car insurance offer that?

Nope. They give free GAP insurance if the car loan is with them (State Farm/State Farm Bank), but their auto insurance policy doesn't come with GAP. Person I'm asking for is also with State Farm.

Check with your lender. Some banks offer that as part of a loan (sometimes it's free!!), but it might be called something different than GAP.

The credit union that financed me offered the GAP insurance. I also get offers all the time from them and my car is nearly paid off.
