(i think anyway) ... the baby who will be 4 in 2 1/2wks ... NAILED me in the back with a large rock while we were gardening together yesterday. unfortunately the way it hit, a person couldnt have planned it worse if they tried. We had just gotten out of the nrighbor's pool so I'm gardening in a bikini, with a hoe in hand, bending over slightly and hoeing with back extended, and a 3-4" across rock apparently was "in the way of our plants", and she swung and it hit right in the middle of the spine on the bone, literally knocking me over. it took me a minute to figure out what had happened - "did i just get SHOT?!" was my 1st thought; my 2nd was "ohmigod who is going to take care of my kids" and 3rd was "OHMIGOD what if i cant walk the dog anymore (my favorite pasttime)?"
Anyways, there's a red bump and a pretty nasty bruise, and im really really sore - feels almost like a pulled muscle but this was definitely all bone, my older daughter said it was a horrible noise when it hit. i can walk fine - its bending over and sitting down that hurt - nothing to worry about right?

and what to do ... i am thinking i may need to try dietary changes 1st. she is so hyper, so impulsive, there is NO safety in home so taking her out is literally a nightmare. :(

You should see a doctor about your back - it's possible there is damage.
As for the impulsivity, trying dietary changes certainly can't hurt.

OUCH! :( I'd see a doctor, too.

I'm right with you with the frustrations over an impulsive child. I'm hoping dietary changes, when we can afford to replace all the crap in the house, will help.

If I'd waited until I could afford to replace everything all at once we'd never have done it. I basically waited until I ran out of an item and then replaced it with the acceptable version of that item. It spread the cost out a bit more, just be aware you can't move to stage 2 until you've had at least 8 weeks in stage 1 becaue you need to have a "clean" period so you can judge reactions.

are you talking about feingold????

honestly ... would you believe ... the reason i won't see a dr. (ever - unless im totally unable to get out of bed!) is because going to a dr's offices with these kids is about the worst nightmare imaginable. :( Can you tell it's summer and I'm super-desparate for any kind of break!? ;)
