I bought a new car this week - an 2007 Ford Focus Sedan

I cant get a tight install with my sons carseat (Evenflo Titan 5) using the seat anchors & the top tether anchor. He is forwarding facing.
It moves quite a bit so I have decided to use the lap & shoulder belt plus top anchor for a snug fit.

My daughters Evenflo Generations Booster Seat fits fine with tether & anchors. Its a tight fit.

Any ideas for getting a tight fit with anchors & tether for my sons seat?

Thanks:)

Just to assure you, it is no safer to use the LATCH anchors - the seatbelt is just as safe and you shouldn't feel you *have* to use the anchors. It's always a good idea to use the top tethers. :)

That said, I wish I could offer you more specific advice. I have an '06 Focus, and we had a Titan, but I always used it in the centre with the seatbelt. :shrug-shoulders: The most helpful advice I can offer (if you're not already doing this) is pull back the cover and pull the tail of the LATCH belt through the seat (instead of pulling it from the side outside the seat.) Changing the angle from which you pull the belt can really help you get a tight install - it usually works best if you can pull the tail parallel to the belt.

Also, you should tighten the top tether as a last step. Make sure your bottom connection (whether it be LATCH or seatbelt) is tight first, then finish it up with the tether.

HTH! :)

Have you tried installing the seat in different seating positions in the car? Maybe you might get a better fit in the middle and having the two seats side-by-side.

Has your son outgrown his seat yet rearfacing? Sometimes it may be easier to install the seat rearfacing then forward facing. I noticed from a post you made back in January, you stated your son was only 8 months old & 22 lbs, so that would make him around 18 months now. With him only being 18 or 19 months old, if he is under the weight limit on the seat and has 1" or more of shell above his head, he would be considerably safer rearfacing.

What seating positions are the seats in (middle, driver, passenger)?
