At home this morning, whe I logged onto the board, everytime I went to a new page I got a popup window that says Windows Explorer in the blue heading. The Message said "Stack Overflow at line: 0"

I thought it was a weird thing with my computer at home...thought maybe I needed to reboot. But I'm at work now and getting the same message.

:scratcheshead:

But, maybe I need to reboot here to. I left my computer on overnight. But I've never seen that message before now and it is weird that it happened at two different computers.

that is odd. What skin are you using?

I am getting it too. I thought it was my computer but I guess not.

I am using the default skin, BTW

the skin is the color theme you choose to view the site in. I assume since you don't know what it was, you never changed it. So you are all using the default skin?

probably it has nothing to do with the skin color, but I thought I'd ask.

I was getting that this morning too when I was using IE. Now I'm using Firefox and it hasn't happened. My "skin" is greenish, if it matters.

Looks like it. I just double checked mine.

I am using IE also.

I am using IE, with default skin. I've been getting it since this morning too.

Are you guys able to try Firefox? Not that it would actually fix the problem, but it makes me wonder if it's just IE doing it since that was my experience.

Me too - I just assumed it was my computer. I'm using the "power blue" skin, but I haven't changed that in ages.

I haven't had this problem, but I was having a problem with the Google ad modules freezing up my computer when I was using IE; after I switched to Firefox a week or so ago, I've had no problems.

HEVY

Yep, I also have been having the same problem since last night. I don't use Firefox, it screws up all my programs.
This is the info I got but it makes no sense to me.

It freezes up, just did it. Some research says it's a microsoft issue but it only happens here.

are all of you experiencing the error using IE7?

Yeah, I'm using IE.

If you haven't tried using one of the Car-Seat.Org styles, that's worth a try. Those are from a newer version of the forum software than the others.

Do you mean skins?

Ugh, I have to shut down AOL everytime it pops up.

Yes. I'm getting the same error as of this morning too, so I don't think it would help but ya never know.

I've sent in a service ticket and searching for possible fixes, but nothing yet.

CPSDarren

The service provider suggests that it could be related to a Google ad and how it is handled by IE. If you get this error, please note any ads that appear on the page and reply with the source if possible.

CPSDarren

The ad causing me problems is a blank ad. When I right click it, it seems to resolve to "echo3.net". I have banned this ad, hopefully it will take effect and fix the problem.

If you are getting this error, please right click on the ads shown on your page and select properties. Then copy and paste the URL here.

Have any Mac users had issues?

I've been on a lot today and haven't had any problems.

I have a Mac.

I'm getting it, but not seeing ads on those pages. Not even the little red X placeholder box.

HEVY
11-07-2008, 05:15 PM
Could it be an "about.blank" issue? I was having that problem the other day then it let to this one.
See I do it the loooong but easy way. Full destructive system recovery. Finding all those little annoying things that creep in and going through the 50 confusing steps to rid it is too much for me.

I've submitted a request with Google tech support. Of course, they still haven't replied to my issue regarding being unable to block specific ads before the election. It could be a while. I hope I don't have to turn them all off again for the second time this week.

I don't know if it's related, but every time a Target ad tries to load, it causes my computer to freak out. Since it switched to Firefox, nothing totally freezes up, but it runs very slow, and the ad at the bottom won't fully load. It makes it so I can't scroll, and the ad box just says "loading" the whole time, and never actually loads. I can click on it and it takes me to Target.com (http://www.target.com/gp/homepage.html/188-0232175-0020456?afid=froogle&lnm=homepage&cpgn=gadget1_7321415675000180864_728x90&ref=tgt_adv_xsg10001), though.

Other ads load just fine, and those pages scroll perfectly for me.

I didn't get this message on google chrome, but things did seem to be running slower, so here I am on ie. I'll try to do some more scientific exploration than that...

Oh, thank goodness it's not just me. I'll pay attention to ads now.

ETA--yup, there's a blank ad at the bottom & it did it.

I got the same thing-- popup, but no ad appears. However, when I moused over the blank space where the ad would be, the script popped up "shop at Target" although it was appearing blank and of course did not functionally link. So it may have to do with the script the site is using to display certain types of ads, or it may be the script the ads use are interfering with the website, but I have a feeling it's probably not just one ad alone...

No ads here, is that because of benefactor status? Also, no problems, I'm running Firefox.

Yes if you are a donor you should not be seeing any Google ads.

Target ads seem to be running today, perhaps they have fixed the problem. Anyone getting the error this morning?

CPSDarren

A Target ad is supposed to be on this page for me right now, but I only see the text from the ad (the carseats on sale, and the prices), no frame around it. I only know it's Target because if I hover over it, it shows the link where it goes. Still, it's better today, even if the ad isn't loading fully, because it isn't affecting my page scrolling like it did yesterday.

I'm using Chrome (from google) and don't have any problems with this site.

I would indeed think that using a different browser may help.

And all yesterday, I thought it was just me. :p

Yeah, got t he whole 'stack overflow". the entire time... And my connection was running dirt slow. :(

Today everything's back to normal, so it could have been a combo of a whole bunch of factors. :shrug-shoulders:
