Well, it's really hard to tell online ... but, you've got the correct belt path, the recline seems OK & the RF tether looks fine from these angles. . . .

Does it move less than 1" in any direction: using only 1 hand (no need for superhuman strength)

Not a tech, but in the first photo is the base resting flat on the seat or do you have a towel rolled up under the front towards the seat back? In the photo it looks like the base is lifted up off the seat at the bight (sp?).

ETA: The second install looks Ok to me too, but just make sure you don't have the tether tightened to the point to affect the recline of the seat. It needs to be taunt(sp?) but not supertight. Overtightening the tether can sometimes lead to problems with the recline mode down the road when you use the seat FF.;)

I agree. It looks like thin shelf liner under the seat to me (it almost looks like it might be doubled though...Is it?), but the base does appear to be "floating" at the seat bite. You'll need to reinstall by pulling the seat away from the bite a little (making sure the base is flat on the seat), and putting more weight at the end where your child's feet go as you tighten the seatbelt.

It's great that you're taking the time to make sure its right! Post more pictures afterwards :)

Thanks for the advice -- it does seem that in the Pilot it is lifted a little. We put a piece of shelf liner under the seat to help with traction on the leather. I will attempt reinstalling -- I had problems with the seat belt lock thread being too long, but I read on here the I can twist up to three times to shorten, so I will attempt again. The second picture install went much smoother.

In the first picture, are you using the RF lock-off? Both the lap and shoulder belt should be closed in it, and it looks like its just the lap part. Its hard to tell though.

How old is you LO? To me for an infant the recline looks good, but for an older toddler I would prefer for it to be a bit more upright.

Right - that's what one of my issues was in the Pilot (first picture) I could lock both the shoulder and lap part of the belt. I went ahead and twisted the lock thread part and spread the belts and now I'm able to lock both parts.
My daughter is 9 months old.

The Prius install was so easy and the Pilot is making so frustrated. My problem is when I went back to move the seat away from the seat back and go to tighten the belts it slides the seat back where it originally was b/c of the leather seats. Is there anything I can do about this?

Just bumping this up since it took awhile to be approved. :)

Okay - I reinstalled the seat on the passenger side using LATCH and I got a much tighter fit. Also, the seat is flat against the seat. For some reason I just couldn't get a great fit in the middle seat using the seatbelt. Here is a picture of the reinstall...

That looks alot better and great job!

Also if you want to you can remove the HUGS (rubber things) on the harness while your DD if RF. They ARE REQUIRED when the child is FF, but optional when the child is RF.;) I found them to be a pain when adjusting the harness on my boys so I just stored them in the back pocket for the tether strap.:p
