Where 2 carseats go in a vehicle?
We haven't purchased the 2nd carseat yet. We have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 4 year old in a Britax Marathon.
Thanks!

Anywhere is fine but because the center is the most protected spot you would put the least protected child there. If your 4 year old is forward facing and the new baby will be rear facing, then your 4 year old would go in the center becasue they are the least protected.
in order of most to least protected:
rear facing seat
front facing harness seat
booster
If two children are in the same type of seat and both facing the same direction, put the smallest in the center. In my car i cannot get anyone in the center so both my girls are outboard:)

Erin gave you great advice
What is the age of the second child?

The 2nd child is not due until March.
My concern with putting my 4 year old in the centre is that the tether straps on my jeep are on either side ( behind the outboard seats) so if I put her in the centre the tether would have to angle to one side or the other.....is that ok?

You'll have to look in your manual to see if you can tether from the center to the side. You also may not be able to fit a marathon and infant seat side by side.
Are you planning on using an infant seat or going straight to a convertible?

I have a hunch you're located in Canada where you're required to top tether forward facing harnessed child restraints. Your spelling of centre kind of tipped me off. :) I don't see any indication in the LATCH manual about Jeep models allowing top tethering a forward facing harnessed seat installed in the center to an outboard tether anchor, but you should also double check the owner's manual for your Jeep.

I would like to go with the infant carseat.
Also while I am posting I thought I would ask...when you tether the Britax (to the back "roof") should it be over or under the headrest...or does it not make a difference??
I though I read over but ours has always been under with the headrest fully extended. On our old jeep I know we ripped the headrest right out...ooops...so maybe that is why I thought over :)
