I'm having trouble installing my Britax Roundabout into my new vehicle. We've had Roundabouts the last 10 years and are on our second one. We've had them in several vehicles over the years but I cannot get it tightened enough into our new van.

I have tried it with both the seatbelt and LATCH. Right now it's installed with LATCH which seems a little better than the seatbelt but I do not feel safe with my son in the seat. It isn't tight at all and if I grab on the seat it moves several inches. If I tighten the tether really tight the seat is almost horizontal which isn't at all how it's supposed to be.

I'm not sure what else to try other than maybe get a new seat. It has almost 2 years until it expires. I've tried the seat at a couple different locations in the van. There are only 2 sets of LATCH anchors and that is where I get the tightest fit but even that isn't as good as I'd like. I'm fine buying him a new seat but I have no idea what would be good to get. We've always had good luck installing the Roundabout up until now.

It's a E-350 Ford Econoline 12 passenger van. We have 3 bench seats, the front two have LATCH anchors at the middle seat location. When we first purchased the van my almost 2 yo dd was using the Roundabout and I wound up turning it forward facing because she was right at the 33 pound limit for rear facing. I could get it tight fine installed forward facing but my son needs to be rear facing. I just purchased her a Britax Marathon and want my 9 month old son to ride in the Roundabout since he is 21 pounds and just about too big for the Britax Companion he's used since birth.

If I get a new seat what would you recommend. This is what we currently have.

11 yo- no car seat
8.5 yo- Graco Turbo Booster
4 yo twins- both in Sunshine Radians
2 yo- Britax Marathon
9 month old- Britax Roundabout

Make sure you're only checking for tightness at the belt path. Anywhere else, the seat WILL move, and that's fine.

The rear tether shouldn't have slack but shouldn't be so tight that it affects the angle of the seat.

I'm not familiar with your particular vehicle, so I can't give much more help. I have found, though, that many times people think a good install is bad just because they're not checking correctly. Hopefully that will solve your problem.
