I have a 2006 town and country and usually my 2 kids are in the captains seats in the carseats using latch. Well i had a few extra adults in the car so i moved a marathon to the 3rd row drivers side outboard using seatbelt. Is it ok to teether using the middle tether spot. Especially since i was using the seatbelt. And since the latch was offset in the middle row towards that side. It wasn't like it was off to the side much at all. I ended up feeling uncomfortable doing it so i didn't. But then got nervous the whole time not having it top tethered. So is allowed if the middle tether is not being used at all.

It is okay for the tether to be offset a small degree. From what you're describing, it sounds fine.

Sounds like to me that she had the seat in an outboard position but wanted to use the middle tether point. As far as I know this is not allowed (unless stated otherwise in the Vehicles owners manual), since it would be borrowing a tether point, and there is no way to know if the tether would hold at that angle.
Check your owners manual, it should tell you in there if you can borrow the tether from the middle to use for an outboard position.

I think I remember the T&C allowing you to use that center anchor for the middle or outboard seat, but I honestly don't remember for sure. From what I recall, and from what it sounds like from OP, the tether isn't exactly in the middle, it's sort of off-set between both seats. In that case it would be fine (as long as the vehicle manual allows it). Britax allows tethers to be slightly off-center.

I don't see any indication it would be allowable in the Chrysler section of the LATCH manual (viewable online at http://www.saferidenews.com/SRNDNN/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=BbUvCCP0gi8%3d&tabid=54&mid=372). Unless the owner's manual or a call to Chrysler corporate can verify otherwise, I'd say it is not allowed.

The Owners manual for my 2005 Odyssey van, it indicates the Middle tether in the third row is only for a carseat installed in the middle position. Therefore, I cannot use it for carseats installed in the outboard position. And, IIRC, my tether location is also offset a bit.
What does your vehicle owner's manual say?

I recently installed a car seat in the 3rd row passenger side seat of a 2008 T&C. (Not the same year, I know.) The center tether anchor was slightly offset toward the passenger side, but there was nothing in the manual that indicated that it was OK to use that tether anchor for a car seat on the outboard vehicle seat. So I agree with Jean's comment and would say that it's not allowed. (Again, not the same vehicle year, I know.)
