We recently bought a 1992 Chevy Silverado as a back up vehicle for my husband to drive. It has a full bench 2nd seat. We bought a Graco Nautilus today to use for our 4 year old, 41lb, 38 inches. The base of the Nautilus hangs off the front of the bench seat by about 3 inches, which the book says it can't do. I have a regent in my van that I can move to the truck but it will hang over the front also. The bench seat is 15 inches wide and the regent is 21 1/2. I can't find anything in the regent that say the front can't hang over, in fact a picture shows a little bit of the car seat going past the vehicle seat but not that much.

So do would anyone have a seat recommendation that might fit on a 15 inch seat or can I use my regent and let it hang over that far? I am stumped so any help is very much appreciated.

Thank you.

The Regent allows for a 20% hangover of the base, but it sounds like you have more than that based on the measurements you gave, more if you have a post advisory regent(made after 6/07) and you're using the recline bar.

Would your child fit into a Radian? I'm not sure how big the base is on the Britax Frontier, but it may be an option for you as well. Too bad it's pricier.

I do have the recline bar. Thanks for the info on the 20%, I did not know that. I think our biggest problem is the back of the bench seat does not recline at all, it is straight up and down so it pushes the seat forward.

I think the Radian is your best bet for keeping him harnessed. Here's a thread with one in a similar vehicle (Ford, but same type of rear seat). http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=59671
