Hi All,

I am going to have to install our Marathon in my grandmother's 1999 Ford Taurus wagon. I checked out the car today and she doesn't have the owners manual. I'd like to install the seat in the rear center but the belt is nothing I've ever used before. It's a lap belt only and other than that I really can't describe it.

Anyone have any advice?

Thanks!

Oh, that will be easy. Check you manual on how to put the lap belt through (under bar). But the latch plate does the locking for you. All you have to do is pull the tail!

You've never used a lap belt only? The belt has like a loop on it for the excess belt. That's what I have. It automatically locks (don't know the tech term for it) into what ever tightness you pull it too. I think they are easier than the lap/shoulder belts.

OK that sounds easy!

I've used a lap belt only on an airplane but never in a car.

I played around with the belt a bit today sans car seat. I couldn't figure out if it would lock or not. Thanks for the heads up! Hopefully it will be easy!

The lap belt is easy. It has a lap part that comes down and connects, but you don't need to worry about that. Just buckle and tighten!

I figured after a year of using the same picture in my signature it was time to change it!

We never do photo shoots in the car since we're usually always late to be somewhere!

The Sarah Palin nomination has really made me want to visit.

I'm thinking next summer. I'm collecting Alaska Airlines miles like crazy for a trip.

You'll have to help me figure out what we'll want to see!

not to hijack further, but that map is in km. I think it's more like 700 miles- not that the 400 mile difference is going to have an effect on whether you can see.

Yeah I realized that after I posted it ;) Either way, no we cannot see Russia from Wasilla. :p

The Diomede islands (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diomede_Islands)(one owned by Russia, one owned by Alaska) are 4 km apart.

On a slightly different note, this was in the Wiki article;

In summer 1995, British television actor and documentary presenter Michael Palin started his counterclockwise circumnavigation of the Pacific Rim, encompassing 18 different countries, on Little Diomede Island, as part of the BBC series Full Circle.

What are the chances?

Not in this way!! I think previous to Sarah Palin, Wasilla's biggest media attention had to do with a chainsaw murder

Yep you were totally right!

I still have nightmares over trying to install a Roundabout in a 94 Accord wagon. OMG that one was totally impossible. We ended up having to rent a car. The only time I've ever given up.
