what does "non-spiked" seats mean?
the seats that were made prior earlier this year?... not sure what month... they had "spikes" that are supposed to hold the harness in the right position on under the seat... well if the harness gets loose it can snag on the spikes & tear the harness... alot of people had this problem... dorel will send you a new & improved harness (it actually is much thicker... kinda like britax...)... they never issued a recall so if you have one you might want to check... theres a thread here somewhere if you do a search...
