:mad:Tonight dh went to put ds into his seat and says, it's broken! So I went to check it out and he hands me the top piece of his chest clip, the part that would fit inside, the top of it, broke. I'm honestly very surprised, as I've never heard of that particular part being an issue. Has this happened to anyone else with that carseat? I'm p.o'd as we're supposed to be going out of town for the weekend. Can I buy any ol clip replacement for it, or does it have to come from Sunshine? Thanks for any help! I plan on calling Sunshine in the AM.

According to SK, you can put a replacement SK chest clip on it, or a Britax chest clip on it. A lot of people prefer the Britax chest clips because they're smaller. I'm not sure if SK has ever authorized any non-IMMI clips, but Russ has specifically allowed IMMI chest clips on the Radian. Hope this helps...Hopefully you can dig a replacement up somewhere before your trip.

Meijers sells SK chest clips. I've seen them at BRU before too.

My friend had the same thing happen... She ended up calling the store she bought it from b/c the SK customer service was closed already, explained that it was under warranty and they sent her a new one...

Hi,
I've never seen a SK chest clip sold separately in any baby stores.
The only other chest clip that they allow is the IMMI chest clip (it's what on Britax seats, it's what appears to be on the First Years/Compass seats, etc).
I'm not sure what else to offer here...
Just out of curiosity, is your LO rear facing or forward facing?
If you don't mind saying, where are you located? (I have a spare SK chest clip that I don't need, but unless you're in Airdire or Calgary I'm not much help).

I phoned Sunshine this morning and they are sending me a new one. We have no replacement, so we're home for the weekend. Annoying!
My son is almost 4 and 52lbs, so he's forward-facing. I'm in Grande Prairie, so thanks anyways, lol.

I had the exact same thing happen to mine! Which radian did it break on? It broke on my premier ...I was sooo not impressed...I had to drive home with him like that since we were out - luckily not far - until i could switch car seats since I had no way to get our replacement seat.
I finally got my replacement clip the other day took a week to get here and a big PITA to replace..
hope there isn't an issue with them...

Just for general information, a broken chest clip does not mean the seat itself won't work. The chest clip is just designed to keep the shoulder straps where they belong, and it is designed to break in a crash. If you ever find youraself in a similar situation, just make sure the straps are snug, secure and in the correct position, and you can still make the parental decision to use your car seat. I personally would be totally fine doing so.

I'm quite sure most of us more seasoned techs/gurus were thinking this as well, but none of us are going to endorse the use of a seat sans chest clip if the manufacturer doesn't allow it.
IMO, it's probably best that the OP held off on her trip. That's probably the most safety conscience approach here. I'm not sure I'd do differently actually...

Personally I knew it would be fine, however, I just couldn't use it...I didn't feel comfortable using it, and if I didn't feel comfortable that's what i went with.
I was just worried if a major crash occurred if it wouldn't stand up as well, and that's what made me uncomfortable
