here's a "dumb" question....are they required and why?

My Regents are from 12/07 and '08. I get a much better, rock solid install with out it in my Expedition. Installed without it in error the day I got the Regent. Took it out and reinstalled but nowhere near as tight.

If it is optional, I'd have one available. :whistle:

Yes, the recline bar is required.

it's not required on seats made prior to 6/07, though.
Edit: never mind. It IS required on yours. Make sure you are using the proper belt path for your kiddo's weight, too.
