Hiya,

Does anyone have any experiences - good, bad, or indifferent - of car seats that are supplied with rental cars? We're travelling to Canada, will be renting a car, and have requested that it be supplied with a seat for our 2 year old. I'm just wondering what people experinences are.

I'm guessing that your DD has her own seat on the plane (seeing as you said she was 2)? If so I would strongly recommend bringing her seat and installing it on the plane for her to use and then use it in the rental car.

I wouldn't recommend using seats from a rental company, as you have no idea if they have been in a collision or have been well treated. I've seen some reports of some rental car companies who still have recalled seats, and seats that have obviously been in a collision and still rent them out.

Any time that I have traveled and needed to rent a seat, I brought my seats with me, I just didn't want to risk it.

Bring your child's carseat. The other passengers will thank you. My kids behave much better in their familiar seat.

Also, you don't want to rent a seat. Here's why... http://www.deliciousbaby.com/journal/2007/dec/22/advantage-rent-cars-frightening-car-seats/
