Since I know you're all waiting on bated breath...(How I dislike apheses..)

TJs has the Monterey ON THE SHELVES. Not only this...but I have one in the trunk of my car at this very moment, although I'm out at UBC for class tonight so I can't play with it. The torture! Mind you, I've played with Stretchy Glue's already but I really want to try my 11 year old out in it ;) Good thing he's a good sport.

And I agree... $178 w/ tax later... Fortunately I could stand to skip a few meals.

yep, that is one $$$$ booster. I've got a $10 off voucher that I can use at e-children until dec. 31st. Not sure if I should get one or not though. Andrew is almost 5 and he really likes his radian, but it would be nice to have something to use in grandpa's car. We've so far been trading cars when grandpa takes the boys for an afternoon or a sleepover so we don't have to move the carseats (ds2 is in a marathon) but if only Andrew goes with grandpa it would be nice to have a spare seat that is easy for grandpa to use properly. he sometimes has trouble doing up the harnesses.

Hmmm, $178 for Monterey or $230 for an Oobr... Decision, decision, decision :)

I tried my 11 year old out in the Monterey. Yeah, he fits.. in fact, he still has two height adjustments available. He doesn't like the wings, but I didn't buy the seat for him and I don't really even have a booster-aged child. We use a booster for our 5 year old once in a while, and he has a Britax Monarch so he's used to side wings. He doesn't mind the Monterey.

So just for my personal amusement, I decided to try my almost-13yo in the Monterey. No surprises--he fit. His shoulder is slightly below the seatbelt guide, on the highest height setting. He's over the weight limit for the seat, mind you.

11yo, 58" (4'10"), 108lbs
13yo, 5'6", 130lbs

So here are our photos!

He was actually at the lowest setting, but he's currently in bed since he has school tomorrow ;) I'll take his photos in the light tomorrow. I really need to borrow my kids' camera instead of using my cel phone, my pictures always look like crap ;)

How's the "butt space", Nicole? The measurements say it's only 11" at the back, that doesn't seem very wide.
It's not in stores here yet. Grrr.

When I talked to them mid last week, they hadn't heard of it. The lady from KT who I spoke to at the clinic on Sat seemed to recognise the name, which is always a good sign :) I didn't have much of a chance to chat though, I was busy getting yelled at by a mom.

I'm just eager because my son isn't fitting well in his parkway anymore, and I'm hoping the Monterey is the answer. Wish it weren't a $170 answer though!

OMG, now I have to buy 2. Nicole, there is a good possibility that if I'm not working on Thursday, I'll be wanting to come over with DH's truck to see if I can do Monterey, Radian, Monterey. Then we would actually finally have enough seats for both vehicles!!! Sooo.....are you keeping it?

I wonder if my torso would fit. I'd only have to lose 10lbs.... Okay, so I'll be honest. Nicole I want to come over on Thursday to see if I fit in the Monterey, because I'm too embarrased to try in TJs. And they hate it when I come in anyways. Anyone know if any other B&M stores in BC have them?

Thursday is good.. You sure you don't want to bring your car in, so we can install seats in every seating position and send you for the seat check at Options? How about a Frontier (reverse beltpath, of course), a Boulevard, an Apex, a True Fit..and perhaps a Radian? I think they'd about DIE and really not know what to do.. :) Maybe throw in a few minor errors here or there for fun to see if they spot them?

LMAO Nicole. Let me guess who's doing that check! I was thinking last night that it'd be funny if the instructor at my course on the 22nd ask us what seats we have. "Um....2 Montereys, a PW, a highback TB, an Apex, a Radian and a True Fit...with a Frontier and GN coming by Christmas" lol. I'll call you and we'll figure out tomorrow. I want pics of me in the Monterey.:p
