I am thinking of renting one of these for our upcoming trip, to haul around one of our 2 Radian (and sleepy child), as we are taking a red eye.

Anyone used it? Specifically we are flying on West jet, and i think we will install it on our older DS seat, and DD will be in a stroller. i was thinking of renting from Wee Travel here in vancouver.

We have, on a Radian, with WestJet. :D I was not impressed. Previous to the GoGo Kidz, we were using a cheapie luggage cart from Wal-Mart, and that's what we've gone back to. The GoGo Kidz did drive nicely, but it was very time consuming to get the seat on and off due to the long-threaded thumb screws. It's much quicker for us to use the LATCH belts and attach it to the luggage cart. The GGK also doesn't stand on it's own - it can be awkward to deal with when the seat's not attached.

I'd recommend a luggage cart over the GGK. Probably a little higher end one than we have, but I even prefer ours.

HTH! :)

The Samsonite Micromover works great, too.. And they're cheap. I've also had great luck fitting a number of different carseats on my Maclaren Volos, if you want to borrow one from me.

Yeah, it is time-consuming to release the carseat from the Gogokidz, but I still love ours to death. I usually disassemble the unit at the end of the jetway, not while actually on the plane, if my DH is around to assist with carrying stuff.

I thought you could leave it attached to the seat while you used it on the plane? Or is there not enough room to feed the seatbelt through . it will be FF

thank you for the offer of the Maclaren. we are trying to not bring too much with us this trip, as my In laws have smaller cars.

I may have to look for one of those micro movers

any thoughts on this http://www.mountainbaby.com/item.php/travelingtoddler.html

We just bought one for a trip from Ottawa - Vancouver with our Marathon and a 23 month old son. It worked great, I have to say we were really thrilled with it. I liked how sturdy the whole setup was (our son isn't light, and he moves around a lot) - I never felt like it would tip over or not support his weight going up or down ramps, around corners, etc. Its as comfortable as a stroller to push, the height is really good on it. It isn't cheap (we paid around $85 from Amazon US for ours) but I think that we'll use it again and again, so it'll be valuable for us.

We didn't have much trouble dealing with getting the pieces on and off going into and out of the plane. We were actually travelling as a family, and we had a great idea - DH got on the plane right before general boarding. He took the carseat and most of the carry-on luggage, and I stayed behind with our son, did a last diaper change and raced back and forth trying to work off energy! In the end, we got on almost last of everyone, which gave DH the space and time - in our 3 seats - to get everything put together and belted in, before we arrived. It was a great strategy and will definitely be what we do in future when all travelling together.

I know that one of the moms here had posted pictures of her car seat attached to a roller bag and she use a big steel round ring that you can get at a craft store and then she attached the tether and lower anchors to that around the suitcase.

I was given a round ring to use for my trip.

We have one and LOVE it. I think it is one of my all time fav baby items. Ours gets used about once a month so we have more than gotten our money's worth.

We leave it on for the airplane. About 2/3 of the time it will either fit thru the xray or they hand scan it at security. The other 1/3 I have to take the wheels of to send it thru. On a Radian it may fit, we use ours with a marathon.

The GogoKidz is expensive and I did just as well with my Radian on a small collapsing metal luggage cart like a pp does. It's quick on and off and I use an extra bungee cord to secure it.

I'm not a fan of attaching car seats to rollie-bags. The Radian is 25lbs. and can't you just picture it breaking the handle which was not designed for so much extra weight? Also, a rollie-bag is awkward when flying with children. Get something that you can get into more easily. Rollie bags are really hard to stow and to get anything out, you have to lay it across your lap and unzip... Get something that opens wide from the top. I suggest a large packpack (like bookbag or hiking size) or a bag with a strap with lots of side pockets. That can then be placed on the car seat on the wheels. That's how I do it and it works great!

This just made me laugh because this was my brilliant strategy the first time we flew with our son and it kind of backfired... no pun intended (you'll see what I mean). I got on the plane with all our gear and DH was supposed to wait until the last minute to board. Unfortunately, once I was gone with ALL of our stuff, DS had a MAJOR poop explosion (he was only 6 months). It went right through his clothes and all over Dad. Dad had to make his way onto the plane with an oozy poopy baby (he wasn't happy with my plan) where I spent several minutes in the bathroom cleaning up the unbelievable mess. I think we might have been a couple of minutes late taking off because of us. I actually threw out the clothes DS was wearing. It was that bad.

Still a good airplane strategy but my lesson learned was to always keep the diaper bag with the baby, even if it's just a few minutes!
