05 Peg Infant Seat-base required?

Does the 05 Peg infant seat have to use the base every time? I remember at one time they required the base to be used...as opposed to other seats that allow for install without base. I'm asking for someone else...if it was my seat I'd check the manual of course.

The 2005 and earlier seats must be used with the base. The newer SIP models can be used without the base. These are the only infant seats I've used and I've owned 2 earlier models and 2 SIP models.
