For folks who have their children 3 across in a car: does it work great or is it a pain in the neck that you deal with?

We're (fingers crossed) going to be dealing with this issue and I'm trying to decide if we want to just buy a minivan or buy some car seats that will fit into our car. I REALLY like my car (2003 Volvo V70) and would like to make if work with three car seats in there, if possible. But I don't want it to be a miserable experience whenever we get in the car.

Right now I have two forward-facing Marathons. If we were to put three kiddos back there, I'd need to probably replace one of those with a Radian and get a SnugRide for the baby (never had a SR before- we always went straight to the convertible seat b/c I always use a sling when we're out). I found one gal on this forum who had this set-up work for her in a V70. But, if anyone else has experience with three across in a V70 (two FF; one RF) I would really appreciate some more input!
Thanks!!!

We have a 3-across situation on both our cars and it's never bothered me. I don't like minivans and can barely tolerate the thought of owning a small SUV. So cars it is for us, for now.

Three kids and two adults don't necessarily need a humongous car.
