I just flew on 4 flights in the past week and I had no problem installing my Fisher Price seat on the airplanes. However, I couldn't get the seat out. On two occasions, airline maintenance had to disassemble the seat to get the carseat out! I have read so many people saying they have had no problems installing Britaxes on planes and I thought my seat was basically the same. I finally put my girl rear facing and that was super easy.

The trick for a Britax convertible forward-facing in an airplane seat is to get a seatbelt extender from the Flight Attendants, so you can install it with a buckle outside the child seat's belt path. Some people have also had luck flipping the buckle so it would open down instead of up, but somehow that didn't work well for me, but using the extender worked great.

:yeahthat:

Don't worry, OP. You're not the first one here who's had to disassemble an airplane seat to get a child restraint out...

My BLVD got stuck and they had to take apart the seat to get it out. What made it get stuck was the plate that protects the straps on the back.
I take mine off now when I fly. LOL. Britax said it isnt a safety thing and isnt even needed. So I just take it off on board a flight. It works.

I tried the seatbelt extenders on a United flight and it just wouldnt work. The extender was still ending up either on the edge of the shell or inside the seat..

It was just easier to take that plate off...
