Can you put a car seat on top of a blanket (still latched in to car-seat hooks)? I ask to just to protect the leather car seats from the infant plastic car seat....

Big No No!

You don't want anything between the car seat & the vehicle seat. It adds bulk which will compress in a crash leaving the vehicle seatbelt or lower anchor straps looser then they are supposed to be. Which would then result in possible more injuries to the child.

Also many car seat manufactures state in their manuals to not modify or add accessories not approved & noted in the manuals. This could/will release the carseat manufacture of all liability if the car seat failed in a crash.

I have had car seats in my vehicles (all have had leather seats) for 7yrs now and none have damaged the vehicle seats. Yes, Indents will occur and will occur with a towel/blanket there too. If your concerned about spills well that is the great thing about having leather it's just wipes up when cleaned.
