3-across in a Ford Focus, anyone?

DH is buying us a Ford Focus from his step-dad and mom at a really great price. I will be using it for the next year to go back and forth from J's school.

I have one radian and a snugride and will be purchasing another radian.

Does anyone have any experiences with 3 acrosses in an 02 Ford Focus?


(If I can figure out how to get my SIL's camera hooked up the computer I might post back with pictures later, its red!)

Offhand, I don't know of any arrangements that would work (I have a 2003 Focus wagon - same size back seat) but I've really never had to accomodate a 3-across with an infant in that car.

However, if memory serves, there are a fair number of posts about the Focus in the successful three across thread (http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=33226&highlight=successful+thread). Scatterbunny has also had success with a few different configurations, but again, not sure whether any of them used an infant seat.

I need two FFing radians and an infant seat OR Rfing small convertable. I like an infant seat but will probably be babywearing alot with two other kids. I don't have to use one, I just already have two (a SS1 and SR)

I fit a FF Nautilus, RF Scenera and FPSV booster in my 03 Focus, and replacing the Nautilus with a Radian didn't gain us much room at all. We also tried the Radian in place of the Scenera, RF for baby, thinking it would be much better, but the Scenera ended up working best. :confused:

Do a search on photobucket for mommy2cias and she has pictures of 3 across in her ford focus using a marathon, roundabout, and a maxi cosi. Not sure if any of those have low enough slots for an infant though.

I don't have a focus, but my corolla is teeny tiny (only 46 inches of hip space) and I believe that the focus is wider. I could get three across with two radians and a rear facing regal ride. I personally could't fit a rf scenera, but I bet you could. One combo I think you should try is ff BLVD (Do you still own that seat?), ff radian, infant seat/scenera. The radian puzzles well with ff 65lb Britax seats.

Maxi Cosi is small enough for a newborn, I put a 2 day old in one today and he fit great !!
