I just checked my friend/extended family member's EFTA for the new arrival (she's due 8/26). This was a great opportunity for me to install in an older Subaru and I'd never gotten a chance to install an EFTA. We put it in the center w/ lap-belt only as it wouldn't really fit behind either of the front seats. I was able to get a pretty good fit, not absolutely rock solid, but definitely solid.
The installation wasn't super easy. The female end of the seatbelt was really long and the male end was on the shorter side. I had to twist the female end so the buckle wouldn't butt up against the belt-path but the male end didn't have much of a tail to pull on. The recline was less 45 degrees (used the old paper-folding trick), it seemed more upright than I'd want for a newborn. I didn't have a towel or noodle with me and although I read through the instructions I didn't see anything about using anything to aid in the recline. Can someone with the instructions let me know if it is permissible to use a towel/noodle? I told the mom that it was more upright than I felt was appropriate for a newborn and for someone to ride in the back w/ the baby to make sure their head didn't flop around. The other issue is I'm not sure how much seatbelt I have to spare even if I can use a noodle/towel.
Any opinions/advice is appreciated. Although please contact me by private message or email because I don't get a chance to check the forums very often. aunt83me02 at hotmail dot com I may try to get another look at the seat if anyone has some good ideas.
Thank you!
