With a 2005 cayenne can I use the latch install for the britax companion in the center rear seat even though the latches are for the side seats? The latches fit and the seat seems secure. Is this safe?

No, sorry. Porsche does not recommend use of the outboard lower LATCH anchors to do a center installation. Here's the chart by vehicle manufacturer from the LATCH manual for reference: http://www.saferidenews.com/pdfs/pg_126_max_wt_07.pdf
