Okay so I have a Boulevard and I just bought a Park Avenue Cover. My original cover is the Shannon and the difference between the two covers (headrest area) in padding is about 1 inch. Seriously when I remove the Comfort Foam (grey foam not the white hard foam) when the Park Avenue cover is on it looks like the Shannon and feels just as plush, comfortable and safe as the Shannon. So my question is how necessary do you think the grey comfort foam is? I mean I know it has not been tested without it but seriously it is labeled Comfort Foam......I already called Britax and of course they can't recommend taking it away.

Any thoughts?

Nope I believe it's required and therefore you cannot remove it.

 You shouldn't remove any piece of of the car seat, even if it's only labeled "comfort" foam because it's been crash tested with that comfort foam. It hasn't been tested without the comfort foam and there may be a performance difference without it in a crash.
