View Full Version : Question Tether bolt positioning?

Hi there, we just recently purchased a 97 Dodge Neon which had no tether bolts. I contacted our local dealer who told me that they would install a bolt free of charge. Great!

So this morning, I dropped it off and headed for playgroup. When I returned, the bolt was in place, but they installed it in the seat directly behind the drivers seat. Does DS need to now sit in this position? Is there maybe a reason they used this location rather than the centre seat (where DS seat was in the car when I dropped it off)? Am I supposed to keep him in the centre position and attach to the bolt in the other seat? Sorry for the silly questions!

A Neon should have 3 positions for anchors in the back dash. Do you see any plastic caps like the ones in the picture below for the middle and passenger side positions? The picture is not a Neon but pre-drilled anchors usually have the same plastic caps?

In any event, you have to use the seat in front of the anchor. In this case, the one behind the driver. Call the dealership again to see why they install it in that position? Did they know you want the carseat in the middle?

There are no caps at all in my neon. There is nothing on the top side of the back dash at all. When I stick my head in the trunk I can see the predrilled holes in the actual frame, and there is a spot for each of the three seat positions. So I am still confused why they put it there. Thanks for the clarification on where DS needs to sit now. I'm going to dig out my owner's manual and see if there are any more answers there. Thankyou
