I know a couple of you have ordered at Borders.com and had it shipped to a local store. Did they call you or e-mail you to let you know you needed to come pick it up? According to the tracking page, my order arrived at the store days ago, but so far, they haven't notified me personally. I'm not sure if I should just go in or if I should hold off until they tell me it's ready.

I had to call. They said the website is supposed to contact you but they are still new and have a lot to work out.

Thanks. Since it's been a couple of days, and there's another book I want anyway, I think I'll swing out there. If nothing else, I've got a coupon, and the kids have already finished the book I bought them last weekend (Dragon in the Sock Drawer (http://www.amazon.com/Dragon-Sock-Drawer-Keepers/dp/0375855874/) = highly recommended by my kids).

I also got a call from an employee at the store.

They should call you when it gets there, but its not unheard of for it to slip by without a call.

It was there. It hadn't been logged in the book like it was supposed to be, but it was on the shelf, so I got it. Also on the shelf was a book I'd reserved online. Except they'd sent me an e-mail saying, "We're sorry. The computer system was wrong, and we don't actually have this book at our store." Great, except I already ordered it online (and paid for it), so now I have to wait for the one I ordered to arrive and drive back out to the store which did have the book I wanted to begin with.

Ah, well. I guess I'm not going to complain about having an excuse to go to the bookstore. I've got plenty to read between now and then anyway. (And my copies of Digger 1-3 (http://www.sofawolf.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=31) should arrive from Amazon this week, as well! )

Okay, this is kinda on topic, but I wanted to say that Borders will offer an "Educators" discount on "educational" books and stuff if you are teaching, even if you're homeschooling. We didn't have to provide any proof that we were homeschooling, but if you have something to bring w/ you, that's good too. :D

I signed up for the discount a couple of years ago, but I found that I rarely used it. Most of the time, the "Borders Rewards" coupons provided a better discount, and the paperwork every time you check out is a bit of a PITB. It's good for people to know, though, especially if you buy a bunch of "school books" all at once.
